Vive 容ne - About us - Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries

Within our cultural context, the place of many women has been significantly hanged in many respects as the consequence of the war and the war events. From housewives and mothers, who used to be protected by the institution of marriage, they have become widows, victims of genocide, stigmatized by rape and other kinds of violence.
They faced poverty, uncertainty, and loss. As for the children, a large number of them suffered from trauma, disorders and/or serious difficulties on the emotional level, which was even worsened by their living in exile and/or heightened degree of family violence.
With the goal to improve their motivation to achieve a long-lasting socialization and recovery, as well as the skills for a better quality of life, Vive 容ne has developed a continuity of care and protection that should stimulate the beneficiaries to develop their own safety and awareness. The overall goal is to continue living a normal life even after the treatment.

The Structure of the Beneficiaries:

- Psychosocial treatment in in-patient facilities:
Women and children with prominent psychological problems that arose as the consequences of traumatic experiences (war trauma or family violence).

- Psychosocial treatment in out-of-patient facilities:
All individuals regardless of sex and age who have psychological or social needs
Families with distorted family relations and connections
Parents of addicted children

- Work with the Local Community:
The residents of refugee and returnee communities with psychosocial needs
Families with distorted family relations and connections
Socially isolated groups
Children in age from 7 to 14; pedagogical work.

Because of the fact that in former Yugoslavia the non-governmental organization system did not exist and there were no similar (psycho) trauma centers but only official institutions for mental health, the organization Vive 容ne represents a novelty in the Bosnian environment.

This is to say that the existing mental health institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina were not enough and, also, they were unprepared to meet numerous needs that arose as the consequences of the war destruction. With the development of professionalism and expertise in both government and non-government sectors, the cooperation between the NGO's involved in psychosocial work and government institutions and facilities for social work, as well as the facilities for protection and improvement of mental health (i.e., psychiatry clinics) have become stronger.
This has helped for the development and new approaches to happen within NGO's faster and easier. At the same time, it increased their feasibility.
